Healthwise Global approached NetEngine in 2009 to help them get all of their global workflows into software. This is a typical request from large established businesses looking to automate their processes and get them in the 'cloud', to unify the workflows of their international client and staff base. With over 14 000 staff globally using this software, we built the applicatipion using the versatile and robust Ruby on Rails development framework on a scalable server setup on Rackspace. The application enables Healthwise to manage their products and services autonomously as a state based entity while providing them with powerful tools to share and consolidate information to eliminate duplicated effort. A team of service providers works with each state based entity to provide availability timeslots that can be booked by clients after purchasing services through their online booking system. The Healthwise system provides a user friendly calendar display mechanism to facilitate easy access to each provider's availability. It also includes roles and functionality for users(clients), health consultants, leaders and administrators. We have online health consultations, an offline version via an Adobe Air app we developed for their more remote locations, global reporting, shops, e-commerce and and incredibly versatile booking and availability system for health services. It was important that Healthwise was able to provide a streamlined and hassle free service for Flightcentre's employee base. By interfacing with Flightcentre's existing systems we are able to leverage the power and versatility of Ruby on Rails to continually reduce the amount of time for users to access the wide range of services provided by Healthwise.
